Ka-Breeders

Pinstrip x Normal                                               Placing eggs

This is how we do it:

From the first of October we lower the temps from normal 32-35 degrees C to 27 degrees C slowly, one degree per week.

At the same time we adjust our lighting to make shorter days, and to mark the change in seasons.

When the temp is down we introduce the males in to the female’s containers/territory. We leave them together for 3 days max. If we observe copulation we move him before max time. We put him back in his own container for at least 3 days, before we use him again. In that way we don’t exhaust him.

We try and hope to breed every female at least 5-6 times, but sometimes it is enough with only one time and other times even 6 times isn’t enough.

Through the whole breeding season, we still feed the animals, but only small prays, and only every second week.We feed our snakes as long as they want to eat. When they stop feeding on their own is usually a good sign. Then we start looking for signs of ovulation.

On Valentine’s Day (14th of February) we start to raise the temps back to normal, again one degree per week.

We keep breeding until we see signs on pregnancy or until the middle of May.

It's just the way we do it and it works for us.

Female on eggs - look out!!
